noob question about machining inner/outer bearing races.

The biggest / heaviest duty 13mm needle bearing I could find is a 25x31mmx13mm so obviously the inner and outer races would have be 21mm ID 25mm OD and 18mm long - with an outer hardened/ground bearing surface and then 31mm ID 41mm OD and 13mm long with an inner hardened/ground race surface.

General | Grinding spindle bearings

Get shielded bearings, not sealed bearings, so you don't have the increased heat from the seal. I f you get double shielded bearings, pop off the inner shields, leave them off, and remove some of the excess grease. At 2000 rpm these bearings run fine, but at 10,000 rpm the grease makes them run hot.

Failures during grinding of Bearing ring

manufacturing process.[1][2] Since race grinding was the bottleneck, the researchers focused on this operation.[3] So that whole concentration are done on the grinding process of bearing ring and failure of ring during the manufacturing. II. GRINDING . Grinding is a process which utilizes various tiny and hard

Wheel Bearing Noise: What It Means and What to Expect

Wheel bearings make your car's wheels go around. They're VIPs – very important parts. Without working wheel bearings, your car won't be going anywhere fast. One of the most common signs of a bad wheel bearing is a grinding or squealing noise. If you can no longer bear the sound of your wheel bearings, you're in the right place.

Guidelines For Ball Bearing Manufacturing | AUBEARING

Chromium steel (GCr15 &SAE 52100) is the most commonly used material for manufacturing precision ball bearings, roller bearings and tapered roller bearings. Specifically, it is used to manufacture the load-bearing components of bearings, such as inner rings, outer rings, balls and rollers.

Removing ball bearings by cutting/grinding

Yeah, that . . . and if you want to protect the internals from weld spatter - get some Pillsbury biscuits in a can and press the biscuits into the void just past the race - then weld away, the biscuits will catch the spatter and cook / expand to keep the seal, when the race falls out, just pull the biscuit out and throw it away.

Rust pitting of bearing bore exceeds fit tolerance.

I'm not familiar with the bearings you're going to use but, I would either take the bearing apart and just plate and grind the outer race or if the bearing can't be taken apart I would make up an arbor to hold the entire bearing (gripping the outer race and keeping the plating solution out of the bearing) then plate and grind the od.

General

The jaws were made for holding valve seat inserts which do not give me trouble. The bearing races have a large radius so the grip surface is minimal. I just figured the mill would be capable of doing the job. The chuck I have for that has hard jaws that fit the bearings well and give me room the remove the required amount of material.
